Related Attorney:  Christopher J. Churchill

Barley Snyder LLC is pleased to announce that Michael L. Mixell has joined the firm as a partner and that Megan R. Browne, Christopher J. Churchill, Jeremy D. Frey, Donald R. Geiter, and Charles B. Haws have become partners in the firm. In addition, Sarah L. Rubright has joined the firm as an associate.
 
Mixell joins Barley Snyder from Mette Evans & Woodside, where he was a partner. In his practice Mixell advises a broad range of clients in the areas of corporate succession and estate planning, as well as banking and commercial, corporate and real estate matters. Mixell represents commercial and non profit lending institutions in a variety of financing transactions and has extensive experience in estate and trust administration, including the representation of financial institutions in trust and estate matters. He received his B.S. from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (highest honors) and his J.D. from the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law (cum laude).
 
Browne is a litigator who represents clients in a variety of areas including complex business disputes, contract litigation, business torts, employment law, shareholder dissenters’ actions, real estate disputes, restrictive covenants and medical and dental professional liability. She defends her health care clients in medical malpractice lawsuits, represents them in general business lawsuits and counsels them on risk management, HIPAA compliance, subpoena compliance and medical staffing and privileges. She received her B.A. from the College of William and Mary and her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law (summa cum laude).
 
Churchill represents hospitals, health care providers, medical device companies and other health care clients in matters involving regulatory compliance, Medicare/insurance reimbursement, fraud and abuse, False Claims Act, Stark and Anti-kickback Laws, managed care and third party payor agreements, information technology, joint ventures and business transactions, bylaws and organizational matters, medical staffing and privileges, non-profit status, antitrust/unfair competition and commercial contracting. In addition to his health care experience, Churchill has extensive prior experience as corporate general counsel and in private practice in handling matters involving complex health care arrangements. He received his B.S. in Business from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law.
 
Frey focuses his practice in the areas of planning, negotiation and execution of business and real estate transactions, real estate development, land use and zoning matters, real estate assessment appeals, business and real estate financing, as well as business planning and immigration. Frey also regularly advises clients in the purchase and sale of residential and commercial properties, including the sale of hotel properties and the transfer of liquor licenses. He is also a licensed title agent for the Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company. Frey received his B.A. in Policy Studies from Dickinson College and his J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law.
 
Geiter devotes a substantial portion of his practice to creditors’ rights and bankruptcy issues, advising financial institutions and other business creditors in all stages of loan and credit recovery. He also has experience navigating creditors through the bankruptcy process and advising creditors on mechanics’ lien matters. Geiter’s finance experience involves representing financial institutions, borrowers, and investors in commercial lending and venture capital financings. He also works with business clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, buy-sell agreements, shareholder relations, website and Internet-related issues, and other general business matters. Geiter received his B.A. from Millersville University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
 
Haws joined Barley Snyder in 2006 from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. He concentrates his practice in environmental, real estate and municipal law. Haws provides environmental counseling services on a full range of environmental issues to the firm’s municipal, industrial and real estate development clients. He assists municipal clients on environmental compliance and permitting matters and  works with real estate development clients in issues from due diligence through final land development approval. Haws also counsels clients on all aspects of mineral resource issues, including oil and gas leasing, coal, industrial materials and bluestone mining, as well as alternative energy projects including wind energy and biofuels projects. He received his B.A. from the University of Texas and his J.D. from Widener School of Law.
 
            Rubright joins Barley Snyder from Mette Evans & Woodside. Rubright’s practice involves advising clients in all aspects of business transactions ranging from the formation and structure of an entity to the dissolution of for-profit and not-for-profit entities. In addition, Rubright counsels clients involved in mergers and acquisitions, and regularly drafts commercial leases, employment contracts, shareholders’ agreements and other corporate documents. Her personal planning practice includes the development and execution of estate plans, including drafting of wills, trusts and powers of attorneys. Rubright received her B.S. from York College of Pennsylvania (summa cum laude) and her J.D. from Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law.
