Join Barley Snyder, Herbein + Company and other industry professionals for the 2021 Food & Ag Summit! This year's Food & Ag Summit will feature six virtual events throughout the month of March focused on hot topics relevant to the food & agribusiness sector. This six-part series is designed for business owners, corporate executives and knowledge leaders from food and agricultural companies. See full agenda below for more details and to register!

Session 1 - Keynote: Federal Legislative Updates Affecting the Food & Ag Industries

Description: We kick off the 2021 Food & Ag Virtual Summit with Charlie Garrison from the Garrison Group as we discuss what to expect for 2021 and beyond. Charlie is the President of The Garrison Group LLC in Washington, D.C. He is focused on lobbying for a myriad of issues including agriculture, immigration, environment, the food industry and more. He attended Purdue University, graduating with a B.S. in Animal Science. Charlie will cover key federal legislative updates including:
- Early Initiatives of the Biden/Harris administration
- Leadership, key committees and plans for bipartisanship in the 117th congress
- Prospects for Immigration Reform Affecting Ag Industry Labor

Session 2 - Accounting Standard Updates: Key Updates on Revenue Recognition & Leasing

Description: Cory Eisenhofer and Chris Kunkle will cover key updates on Leasing (ASU) 2016-02 and Revenue Recognition (ASU) 2014-09. The presenters will provide a walk-through of Accounting Standard Update (ASU) 2016-02, Leases (Topic 842), providing insight into aspects of the new lease standard that are particularly relevant to lessees in a non-public entity. They will review how all leases will now be captured on the balance sheet and recorded through the financial statements, as well as the process to determine if a lease exists and how to record it properly under the new standard. They will give an overview of Accounting Standard Update (ASU) 2014-09, Revenue from Contracts with Customers (Topic 606), providing insight into the new principles-based standard, including the 5-step process for revenue recognition. Cory and Chris will discuss what they saw during implementation, where people struggled the most, what they expect going forward, staying on top of the standard, and how COVID-19 impacted customer payments.

Session 3 - Ownership Transition, the Inevitable Decision: Is an Employee Stock Ownership Plan in Your Company’s Future

- What makes ESOPs so popular and why has there been such a resurgence of ESOPs as the preferred transition plan?
- How does an ESOP work? Who is in charge? Who benefits?

Session 4 - Cyber Incidents and Risk Management in the Food and Beverage Industry

Threat actors can pose a significant risk to the manufacturing processes, including releasing malware that can wreak havoc to an organization’s safety and operational protocols. In this session, Jeff Johns and Don Geiter will provide you and your organization with practical cyber risk management guidance, including an overview of the tools needed for your team to assess its potential liability and reduce its vulnerabilities.
