Overview: Join us for a discussion about the U.S. banking system and the collapse of certain banks over the course of the last week. Paul Mattaini and Amanda Kowalski will provide an overview of federal and state bank regulatory framework followed by a discussion around the recent bank failures and their effect on the markets. This program is designed for a general audience and aims to help individuals understand the implications of the current banking landscape.

About the Speakers

Paul Mattaini, Partner, Barley Snyder
With more than 30 years of experience, Paul concentrates his law practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities, banking and business. In his banking practice, he represents large, regional financial institutions and community banks. His deep knowledge of the financial services industry and extensive bank regulatory experience allow him to “add value” in his work for institutions in the industry. Paul has received notable recognitions during his career, including an “AV Preeminent” Martindale-Hubbell rating and being named to The Best Lawyers in America® list over the years in the areas of M&A, Banking and Finance Law, Corporate Law and Securities/Capital Markets Law. In 2020, he was named Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” for Banking and Finance Law.

Amanda Kowalski, Attorney, Barley Snyder
Amanda is an attorney with over a decade of experience, whose practice concentrates on financial institution regulation, securities, general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and international trade matters. Amanda counsels financial institutions on all aspects of regulation and compliance, with an emphasis on corporate structuring, control and operations, as well as compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws, consumer protection regulations, and global data privacy requirements. Additionally, she advises problem banks and represents financial institutions in matters involving various federal and state bank regulatory agencies, including the Federal Reserve, OCC, and FDIC. She also has significant experience in global trade and economic sanctions matters.
