Bob McQuaide, an attorney in the Gettysburg and Adams County area, possesses a variety of experience in various practice areas.
His education practice has been enhanced by a 40-year history as the solicitor for the Gettysburg Area School District and the Upper Adams School District, two positions he still holds. He counsels school districts in general school law issues including employment matters, student issues, construction, tax assessment and collection issues, contracts and school-related litigation of all kinds.
In the past, he’s also served as general counsel for Gettysburg College for more than a decade. He has served as special counsel dozens of times for about 15 school districts in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and York counties on a variety of matters.
He also has decades of experience in the trusts and estates arena, drafting estate planning documents and helping clients administer wills, trusts and estates. He handles Orphans’ Court matters including guardianship cases and estate related litigation.
In his real estate practice, Bob provides legal counsel for both commercial and residential property transactions and financing. The service starts with the agreement of the sale of a property and works through mortgage negotiation, title insurance, settlement matters and other items. He’s worked on small business formations and has assisted municipal authorities as a solicitor.
A southern New Jersey native, Bob came to Gettysburg in 1975, he joined a well-established Gettysburg law firm, and he immersed himself in the local community. He’s served as a director on boards of nonprofits, service organizations and his church, and has worked in the busy downtown his entire career since clerking at a Gettysburg firm while at Dickinson School of Law. He opened his own firm, the McQuaide Law Office, in 1999, operating it for nearly two decades before joining Barley Snyder.
