For Immediate Release
Lancaster, Pa. – The Pennsylvania School Boards Association has recruited partner William Zee, the chair of Barley Snyder's Education Practice Group, to help provide trauma-informed training to school directors across the state.
Zee will be part of a PSBA-selected team that will help school directors receive what is now state-mandated training on how to be trauma-informed when dealing with students. Trauma-informed training and education helps school officials know how past trauma students have experienced can affect their daily lives, and how those school officials can properly deal with students affected by trauma.
Pennsylvania school directors, both newly elected and those already in the midst of their term, must spend one hour in trauma-informed training this school year, according to Act 18, passed through the state's budget process in June.
Zee will be part of the PSBA's training team on the following dates:
December 7: Radnor Township School District in Delaware County
December 10: Penn Manor School District in Lancaster County
December 11: Berks County Intermediate Unit 14
December 14: State College in Centre County
January 11: PSBA headquarters in Cumberland County
A former teacher and education administrator, Zee is a partner at Barley Snyder and is a member of the board of directors for Leadership Lancaster, the Lancaster Education Foundation and Aaron’s Acres. He is also part of the Commonwealth Education Blueprint, a PSBA project to develop specific recommendations for public education in Pennsylvania through 2038.
