Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder associate Peter J. Faben has been named to the board of directors at the Center for Community Peacemaking in Lancaster (CCP).
CCP is a community organization whose primary mission is to aid reconciliation between victims of crimes and offenders through face-to-face, mediated conferences as an alternative to traditional punishment. These conferences use the principle of restorative justice to help victims and offenders work together to identify how a victim has been harmed and devise a plan to potentially make things right. CCP also holds regular mediation trainings that teach restorative justice fundamentals and reconciliation through dialogue.
“It’s an honor to be involved in this organization and I am eager to help CCP pursue its goal of finding solutions to crime that change, for the better, the life of both the victim and the offender,” Faben said of the volunteer group. “Restorative justice also makes our entire community safer by including those secondarily affected by crime and conflict. Parents, neighbors, teachers and others can be part of the process and contribute to the solution. It’s an exciting moment for CCP since many schools are also taking a close look at using the same restorative approaches to discipline and prevent kids from involvement in more serious crime.”
At Barley Snyder, Faben is part of the Health Law and Litigation groups focusing on the defense of health care facilities and physicians in medical malpractice litigation. He joined the firm in November 2015.
