Pennsylvania Sets 2020 Workers’ Compensation Rate Calculations

Published on

January 9, 2020

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry has updated its workers’ compensation rate calculation chart for 2020, based on the updated statewide average weekly wage.

For injuries occurring after January 1, 2020, the maximum rate will be $1,081 per week, up from $1,049 per week in 2019 and $1,025 in 2018. Rates below the maximum are between two-thirds and 90% of the injured workers’ average pre-injury wage.

Correct calculation of the workers’ compensation rate for an injured worker is critical and, if done incorrectly, may lead to litigation and penalties. It is typically calculated by a workers’ compensation adjuster, based on wage information provided by an employer’s payroll.
