For Immediate Release

Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder is proud to announce partner Shawn Long has transitioned into the role of chair of the firm’s Construction Industry Group.

Long takes over for partner Maria Di Stravolo Elliott, who had been the chair of the group for most of the last year and served before that as the group’s co-chair for 10 years. Di Stravolo Elliott continues to be the chair of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group.

The Construction Industry Group works with clients such as business owners, developers, architects and engineers, construction managers and contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, specialty contractors, insurers, and others in the industry to meet – and exceed – their legal needs to bring projects to completion or, when necessary, to resolve disputes through the legal process, arbitration or mediation.

“The construction industry as a whole has made an impressive rebound, and that’s more than evident around central Pennsylvania,” Long said. “With more commercial, public and residential construction projects underway and planned throughout our footprint, our construction group has seen a significant uptick in activity. Under Maria’s dynamic leadership, our team has become primed to see even more activity, and I’m proud to be a part of guiding its future.”

Di Stravolo Elliott said Long is fully ready for the challenge of leading one of Barley Snyder’s busiest industry groups.

“Shawn is more than capable to take over as the chair of our construction group,” she said. “He’s got deep roots in the area and has proven many times over that he is a great attorney and leader. This group is in very good hands now and in the future.”

Long served as a six-year active duty U.S. Marine before law school and joining Barley Snyder 20 years ago. He also is the chairman of the board of United Disabilities Services Foundation, a Lancaster-based nonprofit committed to helping people with disabilities, including veterans and the elderly, lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
