Reading, Pa. – Barley Snyder Attorney Sarah Rubright McCahon has been recently elected as chairwoman of the board of directors for Girls on the Run Berks County, serving Berks and Schuylkill counties.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a nonprofit organization with regional chapters throughout the country. The program seeks to empower young girls in third through eighth grades through regular running sessions that include confidence-building discussions, activities and games.

McCahon joined GOTR’s governance committee in the fall of 2018, eventually joining the board shortly thereafter. She has served as chair of the governance committee for the past several years and as the vice chair of the board from 2020-2022. McCahon stays active with the organization by volunteering for 5k celebrations and other fundraising events. As chairwoman, she will continue to help further GOTR’s mission of inspiring girls to build their confidence, kindness and decision-making abilities while instilling valuable life skills including the connection between physical and emotional health.

“With two young daughters of my own who are anxious to participate in GOTR, this program has been one of the most fulfilling experiences during my career and I am truly humbled to have been chosen as chair of the board,” said McCahon. “I value my time with this organization because I get to witness these girls mature into young, confident women who are ready to conquer any challenge that comes their way.”

McCahon is a member of Barley Snyder’s Trusts & Estates, Elder Law and Business practice groups, concentrating her practice in estate planning and estate and trust administration. She is also active with other community organizations and is a member of the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance’s Women2Women.
