Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder has further strengthened its Maryland presence by opening a second office in the state, the latest one in Columbia, in close proximity to Baltimore and a short drive to the Washington, D.C. area.
The firm’s expansion into Maryland has proved successful enough to require a second base of operations in the state. Hunt Valley has housed a Barley Snyder office since 2014 and the firm has an increasing number of Pennsylvania clients that are expanding into Maryland.
That has led to the growing requirement of an additional boots-on-the-ground presence in Maryland and the new office at 6700 Alexander Bell Drive, Suite 200 in Columbia. The office can be contacted at (410) 884-3150.
“We’re seeing more activity in Maryland than we ever have,” Barley Snyder managing partner Jeff Lobach. “Our clients are moving there, opening new offices there or doing business there. As client requests for assistance in Maryland have become more common, we’ve responded by offering more offices and more attorneys. The more business we do within Maryland’s boundaries, the more the Barley Snyder name and quality of our work is recognized. That results in additional work we want to be equipped to handle.”
In 2017, two Barley Snyder attorneys, Derek Dissinger and Joseph Schalk, both passed the Maryland State Bar Exam, making them eligible to practice law in Maryland. The firm also hired Lindsey Cook, who is admitted to practice in Maryland.
The firm now has four attorneys eligible to practice in Maryland, with another expecting to hear the results from his Maryland Bar Exam in the fall. The firm plans further growth in the Maryland market through lateral hires.
“Our business in Maryland has significantly expanded,” said partner Paul Minnich, who has been one of the firm’s driving forces on its Maryland expansion and is also licensed to practice in the state. “It makes complete sense to keep adding to the resources we already have there to continue that growth, especially when some of our biggest clients are asking us to follow them to Maryland.”
