Jake is an attorney in the firm’s Business, Real Estate and Trusts & Estates practice groups. In his practice, Jake counsels clients in all aspects of business and real estate transactions and has significant experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, business formation and succession planning for closely held businesses, and commercial and industrial real estate transactions.
Business and M&A
As a trusted business advisor, Jake represents business clients across a wide range of industries, including health care, professional services, distribution, retail, construction and manufacturing. Jake regularly guides clients through all stages of the business lifecycle, from early-stage planning, formation, structuring and due diligence, to negotiation, financing and closing of capital transactions. He has successfully handled numerous M&A transactions on behalf of buyers, sellers and investors alike varying in size and complexity. Additionally, Jake regularly serves as outside “general counsel” to many business clients and is a trusted advisor with respect to their day-to-day business operations.
Real Estate
As a real estate practitioner, Jake represents clients in commercial and industrial real estate acquisitions, financing and leases. Notably, Jake has extensive experience negotiating leases and purchase agreements for solar energy facilities, battery storage facilities, and data centers on behalf of landowners throughout Pennsylvania and in other states in the Mid-Atlantic region. Jake is widely recognized for his work involving the leasing and development of solar energy projects and has presented countless times on the topics of solar development and leasing for organizations such as Pennsylvania State University, Cornell University and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Jake has even had the honor of testifying as an invited panelist before the Pennsylvania Senate with respect to solar industry leasing practices and the impact of solar development on prime agricultural land.
Trusts & Estates
In his trusts and estates practice, Jake counsels clients on their estate planning needs, whether simple or complex, and represents financial institutions with respect to their estate, trust and fiduciary account management and services.
Prior to joining Barley Snyder, Jake was a partner in a mid-sized Harrisburg law firm. Jake graduated from Lycoming College, where he served as president of the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity and was a member of the varsity wrestling team. In his spare time, Jake enjoys fly fishing and fly tying, playing guitar, Penn State wrestling, Philadelphia sports, and spending time camping or at his cabin with his wife and their three children.
