For Immediate Release

Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder is pleased to announce that Attorney Elizabeth L. Melamed has been named to Horizons at Lancaster Country Day School’s Board of Directors.

Horizons is a donor-funded, six-week summer program for under-resourced children with a goal of preventing summer learning loss through education and engagement. Students attend reading, math, art, and science classes, and take swimming lessons, in addition to field trips and other recreational activities. The same students return each summer through eighth grade, receive support and special Saturday programming all year long.

“I am inspired by Horizons’ dedication to helping young students achieve educational success through a high-quality academic enrichment program,” said Melamed. “I am honored to be chosen to serve on the board, and I am looking forward to further helping the organization’s mission of advancing educational equity throughout the community,”

Melamed is an attorney in the firm’s Litigation and Health Care groups, basing her practice around medical malpractice defense and cybersecurity. She defends health systems, providers and hospitals against malpractice claims, while working to prevent the claims from ever happening. She also provides legal counseling to the business community and the health industry regarding privacy, data security, and cybersecurity, including risk and liability concerns.

In addition to her board service with Horizons, Melamed serves on the board of directors for the Lancaster division of the American Heart Association and the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster. She resides in Lancaster County with her husband, daughter and son.
