Barley Snyder Partner Minnich Explains Guardianships

For Immediate Release

York, Pa. – Barley Snyder partner Paul W. Minnich has been busy recently helping to educate his peers on the complex issues of guardianship.

Guardianships are legal tools that allow a person or entity to make decisions for another person of any age who is incapacitated or has certain special needs. Minnich parlayed his decades of experience with guardianship to help present two different seminars. At the first event, he was one of four attorneys speaking at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s “How to Handle a Guardianship 2021.” The presentation helped attorneys determine if a guardianship is appropriate, demonstrated how to prepare for a hearing, educated attorneys on what to expect at the hearing and post-hearing issues.

The presentation came shortly after Minnich presented a similar guardianship program to members of the York County Bar Association with the assistance of judges from the York County Court of Common Pleas.

“Guardianship is such a complex issue that attorneys sometimes know very little about – until they need to know about it,” Minnich said. “The laws and parameters concerning guardianship are changing all the time, so even when an attorney knows about guardianships, they’re likely going to learn something new at a continuing legal education course like one of these.”

Minnich is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and maintains an active trial practice in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. He’s been named to the “Best Lawyers in America” list since 2018 for his real estate litigation work, and he also is a member of both the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Minnich is also member of the board of directors at WellSpan Health.
