Malvern, Pa. – Barley Snyder is pleased to announce that partner Kevin C. Myhre has been elected Chair of the Patent Law Committee for the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). His role became effective October 31 during AIPLA’s Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

AIPLA is a national bar association representing individuals from law firms, companies, and institutions involved in patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition law, and other fields affecting intellectual property. The association has nearly 7,000 members dedicated to the practice of intellectual property law worldwide. The Patent Law Committee provides information on recent developments in patent law, develops educational programming for members and policy leaders, identifies important issues relating to patent law, and more. As Chair, Myhre will guide the committee’s strategic initiatives and priorities.

“Leading the Patent Law Committee is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of patent law on a national and international scale,” said Myhre. “I look forward to collaborating with committee members to develop programming, provide guidance, and address key issues affecting IP professionals and the broader innovation community.”

Myhre is a patent attorney in Barley Snyder’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. He is involved in patent application preparation and prosecution, trademark matters, drafting IP-related agreements, and litigation support across all areas of IP law, including research and strategy development. Additionally, he serves as Barley Snyder’s Practice Excellence® Chair, leading the firm’s ongoing initiative to enhance its capacity to deliver exceptional service, professional quality, and outstanding value to clients via Lean processes. Before joining private practice, Myhre served as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), an experience that gives him a unique perspective on patent examination, prosecution, and IP strategy.

“Kevin’s extensive experience in patent law makes him exceptionally well-qualified to lead the Patent Law Committee,” said Salvatore Anastasi, President of the AIPLA and Barley Snyder Partner and Intellectual Property Practice Group Chair. “I am confident that his leadership will guide the committee effectively and strengthen its role in supporting IP professionals.”

In addition to his involvement with AIPLA, Myhre serves as a board member for the West Chester Area Education Foundation and chairs the Chester County Bar Association’s IP Law Section.
